A Week with Jesus

This has been a great week, Some of my dearest friends were here to encourage and uplift me and my family and to help us discover new ways to serve the poor here in Honduras.
Thanks to Ute, Denise, Terry and Marc for blessing us this week.

Sit down this gets good. First we unloaded a semi filled with medical beds and wheel chairs and labor and delivery resources that Gayle Davidson, (She is so Awesome), aqurired for several area hospitals and clinics, re-organized our warehouse and got all the right stuff in the right place, Gena and Denise handled the upstairs and the guys handled the chairs for churches, doors for the property, Margret’s special boxes that are like gold and all the things that some of you have collected to help the poor here. We went to La Paz a neat little town about two hours from Tegucigalpa to see how we could help the Church there. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the preacher and off we went to discover that we could indeed help this body of believers. Marc T. will send a group of thirty or so to pour a concrete floor, put on a roof and build a classroom on the back of the property for the children. The Chuch can then move into it's new building. Cool!

We got to deliver some food bags that the last group left us to distribute and there were about sixty families that were there that day. We also gave out two boxes of SonQuest shirts that had been donated by Sonquest, Thanks. We talked to several people about their houses and the stories that we heard were heart breaking. One lady has five kids and her husband was hit by car while on his way home from work, she had no house, no money, no food,( until that day ), She was crying from the depths of her heart and soul, I told her that Jesus had a house for her and that she would see it soon. She said she was staying with some friends in the community but that it was very difficult because the house was so small and there were a lot of people. I reminded her that Jesus loves her and her family and that I would get busy on it asap.. Another man that Marc talked to was living in a pieced together tin house with rotten wood and no ventilation, no food, no water, no power and no work. Marc told him he would bring Jesus to help him out too. We spent some time talking with the leader of the community appointed by the Gov. and he said he would assign us a piece of land if we wanted to build a church there. Hint, Hint! The need in this community called Nuevo Oriental was mind blowing. There we were in the middle of it and all we could do was give them some food bags with bibles in them. Sometimes I wish I had Bill Gates’ money so I could solve problems on a larger scale, until then I will be content to be the drop in the bucket and know that I am still part of the plan.

Terry R. came to spend some time getting ready to plant a church in Valley of Angels, we went and looked at the land and compared his blueprints and laid some things out for the summer when that project will be in full swing. Terry also helped design some cool murals for our buses, and he did some more scouting for all the trips he has planned for the summer. Thanks. Terry is an awesome inspiration to me and my family, if it were not for him I would have never found Honduras or been on this missionary adventure. He has been an awesome friend for twenty two years and I am looking forward to our future in ministry together.

Of course Joe and Nate have been everywhere with us and have helped us old guys whenever we needed help. We went to Los Pinos on Sunday and heard a great sermon about being committed to the work of the Kingdom, the singing was awesome and really loud. The Baxter graduates have been having nightly bible studies that have been drawing 105 visitors from Thursday till Sunday. I loved watching the kids being tossed around by Joe and Nate. The kids just laugh and laugh. I feel confident that Jesus made the children laugh too. We also helped get a semi out of customs and over to Catacamas, Honduras for Predisan and Healing Hands International in Nashville. Great Folks! Then Sunday afternoon we drove out to a small town called Cuidad Espana and took some pictures of some very excited families that had their houses paid off by the Cucuy Foundation in Los Angeles. IRC helped Cucuy with the logistics of paying off these homes and Sunday was the day that they all were given their titles and we took pictures with them as they held up papers that read “I am the owner of my house”. The kids were really cute and did not want us to go but we had to leave.

Then all the excitement arrived via the Spirit. We had been looking at some land for IRC to begin a more permanent work here and it was put in front of us to use for the Kingdom. It is located in a small town just outside of Tegucigalpa called Santa Ana. It is a beautiful little town that is like Valley of Angels. We will be able to open a clinic, a Mi Esperanza training Center, a Church, a small Children’s home for abandoned kids, a Police post and Twenty two concrete block houses for families in need. We will also have plenty of land to expand any of these ministries and there is already water, power and phone to the property. We could build several Missionary Houses here to house small short term mission teams that are interested in working with these programs. We will make our own blocks and build our own structures. This is going to be so much fun watching all this come together for God’s Glory. Pray that we will do a great job for Jesus.

If you are interested in knowing more about all this then contact me asap and I’ll fill you in. Well I am really tired from all the excitement so I have to go to sleep now. Tomorrow is another day filled with opportunities.
