MAY bLOGFEST DAY #2
Day Two
Let me ask you and me. Who are you? Who am I? Are you truly convinced that the life that you live is the life that God has called you to? How do we spend our time? How do we expend our energies and money? What are our pleasures? Does it bring us more joy to share the good news about Jesus or go to some movie that we saw and can’t stop talking about? Do we plan our week to watch TV shows that we become addicted to? Sports, work, play, or whatever? Is God proud of whom we have become? God refers to David as a man after His, God’s own heart. Let us examine the attributes of David. As a boy he was fearless. As a warrior he was sure. He was sure that God would handle the battle. Who else would take a group of warriors, 300 mighty men and go running into odds that were insane. And at the end of the battle sit down and say today was a good day. He hid in caves and waited for the next battle to protect Saul’s kingdom that the Israelites would have given to him years before. After all, who wants a king who lets a twelve year old fight their battles? And when he became king, he cries out in passion to God to fill him up and to guide him. To rescue him, to forgive him, to admit and acknowledge his weak pathetic faith was a daily occurrence for David. Read Psalms and you will see it clearly. Led astray by a beautiful woman, being deceitful to his kingdom, his soldiers, his friends and his God. Yes he was a pathetic excuse by our standards today. We would embarrass him, destroy him, disown him, dis-fellowship him, despise him and turn our backs on him. How pathetic does that make us?
