An Update from Doug, Tim's brother
To All Saints: Sept. 7th
Today was a good day for the work here in St. Tammany. We have been blessedwith the local support as well as groups coming in from Alabama,Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, California, N. Carolina. We have been receiving the relief from the Red Cross, which is located 1mile from us. The building is set up as a warehouse and we areredistributing relief to the Parish all the way to Mississippi Gulf Coast.Crews have arrived and begun to clear homes. Crews are out delivering to theshelters and today we began to work the outlying areas direct to the homes.
Today we sent a group over to the Medical Commissary in NO under the controlof FEMA and picked up $250,000 in medical supplies. We are going to workwith the Red Cross to get these to the Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing homes andshelters. The first doctor arrived today and will be working with the groups. More are needed and more are coming. We will need counselors. We reached Bogalusa and Pass Christian today and were he first to bring aid to the areas.
We have a steady stream of refugees streaming in to pick up supplies. They have lost so much Tomorrow we are receiving 2 box trucks, 20-24 foot trucks, an ice machine, 3 tractor trailers to use for staging, a forklift, 40 new helpers and 50 bedsfrom White Ferries Road. We have worked out way to feed the workers using a local restaurant to prepare meals, the building is air conditioned, (our homes are not), showers at the Health club, (in the dark). One of the Shepherds here returned from New Orleans today and the devastation is complete. What you are seeing on the news does not do it justice, it is much worse. Death is everywhere, families displaced, homes destroyed. Tomorrow is another day.....
We have needs beyond imagine. We have been blessed and have managed to get out over $500,000 in relief in the past 5 days. We are here and responding to the area and I expect that by the end of next week we could pass out another 500,000 of supplies as long as we can manage it Due to our location the Red Cross we have been able to keep the flow going and it is needed. With the Doctors and EMT's coming, we have a new opportunity to take Jesus to the Community and really, SE Louisiana. Bibles arrived today and more will be needed in the future.
You have received our list and plea......get the word out God's solders are on the ground and in action. Many have responded and we are thankful for these efforts. Individuals and churches alike, but we need your help and rapidly. Going tomorrow to meet with State officials and see how to get into St. Bernard where my factory was. It is lost and we still have not heard from over 1/2 of them. I am told that the devastation is worse than New Orleans.
Today they came upon the first Nursing home and all inside were loss. Death is everywhere as the flooding was parish wide. God has run Satan out of the area and his healing power is there for is to take out. We are on the ground and in the battle. Bless you all
