A Million Dollar View

What would you pay in the states for a mountain view like this? Priceless, huh? Well, today we got to see and enjoy it all day long. The beauty of God is amazing to me. Honduras is filled with beautiful scenery and natural beauty.

A small group of us worked in a new community today call Nueva Oriental. We built a home for an older woman with a young child named Sarah about 12 years old. Her house literally was made of plastic and tin and old wood. It was a surprise that we were coming because she had asked for a house earlier in the week but Tim never promised he could build her one.

We got to the site around 8:30am and her daughter was the only one there. Sarah knew what was happening because she helped with the last house we built in that community last week. We had to tear down the old house and move her belongings out of the house before we could even start the new one. It was a beautiful day. We started bringing her things out of the house and found quite a few friends to say the least. Scorpions, taranchalas, and all kinds of things laying under rocks. The mother showed up from work a few hours later with the look of shock on her face. She was so happy to see the new house going up. We put in a wood floor for her and a set of bunk beds for her and her daughter. The bunk beds were so cool and much needed. Thanks to Randy and Melissa for supplying the money for the house and the beds. The rain held off until we were finished, praise God for that! Our crew consisted of Mark and Lori, Randy and Melissa Kluge, Tim, Me, Dylan and Dalton, Joe, and Anibal. It was a great team to work with. Everything went smoothy and the family has a new home over their heads tonight. The neighbors were very helpful as well. They all pitched in and carried the wood, dug post holes and whatever else needed to be done. They all clapped for their friend when the house was finished. Close community for sure.

Randy and Melissa came on Terry Reeves' trip last week and decided to extend their stay an additional week to build 3 more houses and we will be helping them this next week to build them. We will try to keep our blog updated with more stories and pictures.

Below is some pics of today. Enjoy!

The kids in this village are the cutest. Moses, especially
loves to repeat every word you say and always has a huge
grin on this face.
